Maitland Historical Society opens new "We Make History" Community Gallery
On April 15th, Maitland Historical Society introduced its new community gallery space
with the opening of "The History of Fashion: A to Z."
This new space offers changing exhibits and allows the Society to showcase
the many interests and stories the community has to share.
The History of Fashion was inspired by MHS member Sue Dyer who has a long-time interest in fashion
and wrote a book of the same name. Ms. Dyer goes from A to Z highlighting
a fashion trend that begins with each letter of the alphabet.
The exhibit offers a sampling of those letters with displays including shoes, fans, hats, aprons and more.
The gallery is located inside Maitland Historical Museum, 221 W. Packwood Avenue
and is open from Noon-4 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.
Admission is free in 2010 in honor of the Society's 40th anniversary!
